If deciding where to spend your day with visiting friend and
relatives involves a long car trip or making your way through an
endless stream of public transport to get to your destination, it's
time to re-evaluate your options and discover your own
backyard!
Ballarat City Council, in partnership with Ballarat Regional
Tourism, is encouraging residents to discover and experience all
their local area has to offer as part of a new local tourism
campaign 'Discover Your Own Backyard'.
The campaign is based on research by Destination Melbourne into
the economic benefit of the visiting friends and relatives market,
which makes up 56% of Ballarat's visitors.
From this research, the Discover Your Own Backyard campaign is
designed to raise awareness of the value of tourism. The campaign
is also and a great way to promote the many attractions that those
who live in the community can celebrate, be proud of and showcase
to their visiting friends and relatives.
If visiting friends and relatives have a great visitor
experience it is envisaged that they will keep coming back, they
will tell others, and the local economy will continue to grow and
benefit.
