Twilight hours return to Kryal Castle

Ballarat's Kryal Castle will again switch to special twilight hours this summer.

From Saturday 26 December until Tuesday 26 January, the tourist attraction will be open daily between 2pm and 8pm.

Immerse yourself in a magical world of myth and make believe, and be captivated by a show of world-class knights jousting on war horses as you sip on a cold beer and enjoy wood-fired pizzas.

This summer’s All Star program includes Alice in Wonderland characters the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit.

Robin Hood and his crew will be defending the kingdom against the nasty Sheriff, Rapunzel and her prince will plan an escape from the evil witch’s tower, and don't forget to meet the dragons plus the brave knights who compete in Kryal Castle's world-famous championship joust.

“We want families to have the opportunity to savour the best part of a summer’s day together whilst enjoying our performances,” said Phillip Leitch, the attraction’s jousting world champion.

“We’re opening our doors later so they can share a meal and the unforgettable experience of life inside a real-life castle during those special hours of twilight. The cooler evenings are better for the families and it’s better for our animals."

“Not surprisingly, we find adults enjoy the magic of the castle just as much as the kids.”

Kryal Castle’s stone maze offers endless fun, while the enchantment continues with the ancient art of archery, axe throwing and knight school. These are just some of the unique activities on offer this summer.

From now until 20 December, the attraction is open weekends 10am-4pm

Tickets are adult $35, family $99, single family $79, child (4-16 years) $22, and concession $28. Pre-book online at
