The Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts is a splendid jewel in the crown for Ballarat, further enriching the cultural and artistic life of the city and Western Victoria. Developed in 2006, the centre is a partnership between Ballarat Grammar and the wider Ballarat Community.
This Proscenium Arched Concert Hall boasts an acoustically superior Auditorium consisting of stalls seating and two balconies. The configuration of the seating allows unrestricted views from each of the 857 theatre style seats.
With 170 square meters of stage and an additional 60 square meters of wing space the Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts is suitable for a huge range of functions. The large auditorium seats 857 and the expansive stage area has the capacity to handle performances ranging from opera, pipe bands, and live theatre to orchestral and ensemble presentations. Many dance and theatre schools use the facility for their gala performances whilst primary schools hold their graduation ceremonies here.
The stage is wide enough to accommodate a symphony orchestra, yet it can be made narrow enough to make even solo performers feel comfortable.
The centre has a spacious foyer, on the same level as initial seating rows, making access to the venue easy. The Masterfoods Foyer has a fully equipped plating kitchen, bar and box office. It also has the capabilities of seating, and catering for, up to 100 people for a three course meal. For a dinner with a touch of the theatrical, meals can be served centre stage with the capability of catering for up to 150 with still enough room for a dance floor or band.
The centre is suitable for a wide variety of events including intimate live theatre, acoustic concerts, comedy, orchestral concerts, ballet, public lectures, seminars, presentations, meals and product launches.
