A Ballarat brewery has been awarded the top prize at the world’s largest annual beer competition.

Dollar Bill Brewing‘s Gold Teeth 2021 was crowned Champion Australian Beer at the 2021 Australian International Beer Awards in Melbourne on 20 May.

The limited edition Gold Teeth was also proclaimed Best Fruit Beer at the awards, which featured 2500 entries from 402 exhibitors and 21 countries.

Only recently released, the spontaneously fermented barrel aged wild ale was made with certified bio-dynamic yellow clingstone peaches.

Dollar Bill is run by husband and wife team Ed and Fiona Nolle, who ferment and age fresh pressed fruit, honey and wort in French oak barrels.

These barrels are then blended to create Belgian inspired ales, ciders, mead and barrel aged beers.

“After the challenges of 2020, it was fabulous to conduct the awards again this year… and see the beer industry come together to celebrate brewing excellence.”

The AIBA gongs topped off a massive week for Dollar Bill, with the brewery also recognised at the 2021 Craft Beer Marketing Awards.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities.

These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years.

As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
