GOR Woollen Mill is a family-run gem, passionate about sustainability and responsibility. This boutique, working spinning mill creates beautiful yarns and knitwear accessories using 100% Australian wool in a 100% off-grid operation.

As a 100% off-grid operation, they harness renewable energy and rainwater, minimizing their environmental impact. They are committed to animal welfare, using RWS certified non-mulesed wool.

Their dedication to local is impressive, sourcing wool in Victoria, scouring it in Geelong, and spinning it at the mill. This commitment to quality and sustainable practices shines through in every skein and stitch.

Located near Ballarat, only 20 minutes from the centre on the Western Highway, GOR Woollen Mill offers an Alpaca Tour and Mill Experience, unveiling the farm-to-yarn journey. Witness the transformation of raw fleece into finished yarn and get up-close with alpacas.

Tours run every Friday at 10:00am and 1:00pm, and on the first Saturday of the month. Book your tour via the website.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
