The sound of History is arriving to Ballarat's Airport with music from the Ballarat Memorial Concert Band. Come and enjoy one of their performances.

The Ballarat Memorial Concert Band started in 1920 as the Ballarat Memorial Soldiers Sailors and Airman Band. They have over 100 years of continuous history in Ballarat (the first performance was at the opening of the Arch of Victory).

At inception they were a Brass Band and restricted to Returned Soldiers and often in demand by festival organizers in and around Ballarat. In 1987 membership was opened to all musicians and the band was developed into a Concert Band with a wider range of instruments. The name of the band was also then changed to the Ballarat Memorial Concert Band (BMCB).

The Ballarat Memorial Concert Band, is a non-profit community organization and open to all who wish to contribute to playing music. The band plays an eclectic mix of music including marches, classical, jazz and popular styles.

They are regular participants in community festivals and events in Ballarat including Heritage Weekend, Begonia Festival, Ballarat Show and Christmas Carols as well as their own concert performances.

The band always encourages new members of any standard - for the Senior Band and especially into the Development Band program.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
