Open House Melbourne presents Heritage Conversations: A life in photos—John Gollings.

As one of Australia's most influential architectural photographers, John Gollings has changed the way audiences see the built environment to reveal stories about its character and personality.

From architecture to advertising and back again, John became the 'go-to guy' for his architectural contemporaries and has since photographed some of our most iconic buildings. His remarkable body of work offers a visual history of the buildings and places that have shaped the city of Ballarat and many others.

Hear John in conversation with Open House Melbourne's Tania Davidge as he reflects on his life in pictures, from a young boy with a Box Brownie camera to capturing images of architectural marvels of Ballarat and the world beyond.

This event is fully wheelchair accessible. Please contact the team to discuss any accessibility needs.

Presented by Open House Melbourne in partnership with Heritage Council Victoria.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
