The Hidden Gems group of artists from the Ballarat region open their studios to the public several times during the year.

The studios are within 10 minutes of each other - making this an enjoyable mini-arts trail. The Haddon studios of Vida Pearson/Fred Ross, Stella Clarke and Kate Wise are all close together and then it’s a short 10-minute drive to Steve Drew Pottery, Sylvia Aguirre, Rosie Grundell and then Red Echidna Studios at Smythes Creek and another five minutes to Raintree Art in Cambrian Hill.

The Hidden Gems artists' studios are open twice a year, giving them a rare opportunity to connect with art lovers and show their skills in their chosen mediums. With a diverse range of subject matter and styles the studios offer printmaking, artisan furniture, sculpture, painting, ceramics and Aboriginal art.

This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the Ballarat region with the added bonus of some really interesting artists to chat with and some wonderful artwork to view.

Please check the website for which studios are open, as this can vary.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.

©️ 2024 Visit Ballarat. This initiative is funded by the City of Ballarat and Tourism Midwest Victoria.
