Art Gallery of Ballarat and the Koorie Heritage Trust (KHT) present the first and biggest retrospective of works by the late Josh Muir (1991 – 2022) in JXSH MVIR: Forever I Live.
Josh Muir was a Gunditjmara, Yorta Yorta and Barkindji artist, born in Ballarat who passed away suddenly at the young age of 30 in 2022. Josh’s artistic career spanned 12 years, during which he became a prolific artist and was expected to continue on a meteoric rise.
JXSH MVIR: Forever I Live highlights the strength of Josh’s artistic practice and the important contribution he made to First Peoples art and culture in South East Australia, as well as to contemporary art nationally and internationally. It is co-curated by his mother, Justine Berg and partner Shanaya Sheridan, which adds to the heart and soul of the exhibition.
JXSH MVIR: Forever I Live is a Koorie Heritage Trust exhibition that was first presented at Koorie Heritage Trust, Narrm (Melbourne) from 9 March – 14 July 2024.
