Phoenix Phunk will perform songs they have written over the past year that will feature on their upcoming album 'The Hit List'. This includes songs about Christmas and Summer holidays, good times with friends and family, becoming champions and other uplifting themes.

Phoenix Phunk is a 16 piece band from Phoenix P-12 Community College. The band features the phunkiest students from the school, who gather weekly to write, arrange and perform their own original songs.

Whizbang will be teaming up with Phoenix Phunk to play 2 great sets of student generated original music. A special feature of our performance is a Christmas themed original called Whizmas.

Whizbang are a 16 piece original big band comprising brass, woodwind, a rhythm section and vocalists, based at Ballarat High School. The band has been in existence since 2000 and in that time has released 10 studio albums and performed at festivals, community events, school concerts and touring shows. All repertoire is student generated across a variety of genres from Latin to pop to jazz and prides itself on the variety of original compositions.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
