Join the team of Tales from Rat City for an unforgettable Live play theatrical event.

A sequel to the 2023 Victorian Community History Award-winning adventure "William Bailey's Haunted Mansion" and "Spectral Schemes".

A live real-play event is an interactive theatrical performance where talented actors play through a roleplaying game.

Based on a Midsummer Nighgt's Darkness by Jane Routley.

A Midsummer Night’s Darkness is a gripping scenario that intertwines an often-overlooked yet crucial part of history—the suffragette movement—with a chilling Mythos twist. Set in 1891, a determined group of suffragettes is campaigning for women’s voting rights in the colony of Victoria, gathering signatures for the historic Monster Petition. However, when a sudden and violent storm forces them to seek shelter for the night, they find themselves entangled in horrors far beyond their imagination. What begins as a night of refuge soon becomes a descent into darkness—one they may not all survive.

Supported by GUF, Chaosium, Goodgames, the City of Ballarat, and Federation University, and hosted by Ballarat Library.

Acknowledgement of Country

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
