Ballarat’s Sanctuary Day Spa has been crowned Australia’s best luxury day spa for the second time in two years.

The purpose-built holistic retreat won the honour this week at the 2021 World Luxury Spa Awards, which were held in Mauritius.

Established in 2010, the awards are the pinnacle of achievement in the luxury spa industry.

More than 250,000 international travellers vote to select the winners each year.

Located within the picturesque gardens of Mercure Ballarat, Ballarat’s Sanctuary Day Spa features six luxury treatment rooms (including two dual suites), private bathing, a floating pedicure lounge, relaxation lounge with open fireplace, and The Sanctuary with sauna and heated hydrotherapy pool.

It previously won the award for Australia’s best luxury day spa in 2019.

“I would just like to acknowledge my amazingly talented team of hard-working therapists – without them, we would just be a pretty building,” Ballarat’s Sanctuary Day Spa director Sarah Emmanuel said.

“This award is for every single one of them, who have stood beside me during this pandemic and sat at home for a total of six months waiting to get back to doing what they love.

“Their enthusiasm is infectious and together we are a family.

“Having pulled out of the awards last year, it’s an honour to bring back the title of Australia’s best luxury day spa to Ballarat following our win in 2019.”

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities.

These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years.

As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
